Energy Assistance
New Milford Social Services is the intake site for residents under the age of 60, for the CT Energy Assistance Program which assists with payment towards the primary heating source for income eligible households.
Small rebates are available to some renters whose heat is included in the rent. Qualifying income changes yearly. The application period runs from October through April of each year.
Appointments for oil or other deliverable fuel assistance applications may be made after September 1st of each year. The last day to receive a fuel delivery is March 15th. Please come to your appointment prepared with all needed documentation. See Energy Assistance Requirements below. If you heat with a deliverable fuel (oil, kerosene, propane, wood), please don't wait until you are almost out of fuel, as the application process takes a few weeks to complete.
Likewise, once approved, call for a fuel delivery as soon as your tank is below 1/4 full. Contact CACD at 203-744-4700 to authorize a delivery and for all delivery-related issues.
Appointments for electric assistance applications may be made after January 1st of each year. The deadline for applying is May 1st (May 15th for electric-heated households with a shut-off notice).
Residents must re-apply every year to get benefits.
