ARTS, COMMISSION ON THE

The New Milford Commission on the Arts was established by ordinance in 1977. Its mission is to support and encourage the development and appreciation of artistic and cultural experiences in the Town. Experiences include but are not limited to music, theater, dance, film, literature, and visual arts such as painting, sculpture, photography, and architecture. The Commission coordinates or contracts with individuals or organizations to sponsor, fund, or originate cultural and artistic activities.

The Commission is a volunteer organization that maintains monthly meetings that are open to the general public. Agendas and Minutes of these meetings are held on file in the New Milford Town Clerk's Office per the Freedom of Information Act requirements.

Events:

The Edwin Kinkade Annual August concert series is performed outdoors on New Milford's historical bandstand. A different concert is scheduled each Saturday in August, beginning at 7:30 pm. Concerts are FREE, open to the public and suitable for all ages. Programs are weather permitting and subject to change. We suggest you bring a blanket or chair to sit on.

The Annual Carol Sing on the New Milford bandstand is usually held on a Saturday evening prior to Christmas. The New Milford Arts Festival is held on a Saturday in July.
