What You Will Need to Obtain a Zoning Permit

Before submitting a completed zoning permit application to the Zoning Department, we recommend contacting the New Milford Building Department as our process has changed and the Building Department may require sign-off from our office, as well as other Departments within the Town.

1. A plot plan or survey indicating the placement of the structure, with the dimensions of the structure and the distances from said structure to all property lines. 

2. A completed Zoning Permit Application.
If you are not the owner of the property, the zoning application will have to be signed by the property owner or a letter of authorization (with the property owner's signature) will need to accompany the application when submitted to the Zoning office.

Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by Zoning personnel.  Please allow a minimum of five (5) business days to process the application. After the permit has been reviewed the Zoning office will contact you with the status of your application.  Payment will be required at the time the permit is issued.
