To obtain a Marriage License in New Milford, Connecticut

The Marriage must take place in New Milford if you are applying for a license in this town. Both parties must fill out the Marriage worksheet.

Marriage License Worksheet

  • Fill in all the blanks, including the Officiator information. Please print neatly or type the worksheet. Once you have filled out the worksheet including the date of Marriage and your Officiator, please call the Town Clerk’s Office to make an appointment, 860-355-6020.
  • Both parties must show a government issued photo ID and must appear in person to take an oath & to sign the license.
  • The fee for the Marriage License is $50 cash or check, which is good for 65 days from the date of issuance.
  • Couples may get a certified copy for an additional $20. Copies can be obtained in person, or mail a request with your photo ID and payment to the Town
    Clerk’s Office.

If you prefer to pay at the time of getting the marriage license for a certified copy, we will mail a certified copy to you when we receive the license back from whom your officiator.

The hours for getting a marriage license are M-F from 8:30 - 3:30.
